Hudson's Tomorrow Welcomes New Members!

Hudson's Tomorrow welcomes various new members into the KHS school club!

As the leaves change color, a new season greets us. Along with the new season, comes a new school year. People become nervous, excited, or both-to meet or make friends, catch up on things, anticipate the classes and clubs they’ll be part of. People try to find a community, look for beneficial opportunities and do fun things when they want to join a club.  

At the start of the year, a club fair was held in our school cafeteria where clubs introduce themselves and showcase their work. Since I wanted to find out about different clubs, I decided to go to the fair, and thanks to that, I found out about Hudson’s Tomorrow. It was a very interesting club, and they had a different goal than anything I could think of. The members introduced their club to us, showed us their test kits and talked to us about how they want to make the Hudson River a healthier place, and even held pick up days to clean around. Seeing them made me realize how I never considered my community that deeply and wanted to join them. I put my name on the sign-up sheet, and a couple of weeks later was our first meeting.  

It was a casual meeting for new members and existing members to get to know each other better, we played fun games, and the officers were very sweet! They encouraged us to speak, and took their time to personally reach out to us so that we could feel comfortable. As the meeting was nearing the end, I was sure I wanted to keep coming to this club which not only promotes taking care of one’s community but prioritizes valuing each member of club. As I was leaving, our president told everyone to applaud me, and that made me feel a sense of belonging.  

Hudson’s Tomorrow is about serving our Hudson River. We clean around through trash pick-up days, do art work relevant to our club etc. We’re very excited to present our club at YESS, this March, and moving forward, we’ll keep doing these fun and amazing things!
